These images are of a stand-alone programmable controller and Sherline Rotary Table. This type of controller is programmed using a PC and then the program is stored in the controller for use on a machine. This type of controller would allow the manual machinist to machine complex gears or any part requiring indexed moves without the need of a dividing head. This controller can also be interfaced with NC and CNC machines which don’t have 4th axis capability. This can be accomplished by using a mechanical switch that is activated by the tool or table to tell the indexer to rotate. If your control has a relay that you can control with an M-Code, you can use this to tell the indexer to rotate.
