master bath mirror

While looking for the mirror for the master closet door, Marlene ran across this custom made mirror sample in the glass shop. This was the inspiration for the master bath mirror.

We had the frame fabricated by the same company who made the master closet mirror door and the master bath linnen cabinet.

This is the 3d design I made in the computer using solid works.

While not modeled in the 3d representation tbe back side of the wood actually has beads machined into the wood so it’s like double sided pre fab wood molding.

This presented a problem using clips to hold in the mirror. The mirror is quite thick and heavy due to the requirements for the v grooving and beveling.

I designed and 3d printed some custom clips to space the mirror properly and clamp it in place.

This is the final design of the clip that will be 3d printed.

The design allows for the clip to bend slightly when tightened down acting like a spring to clamp the mirror in place. This worked out very well!

These are the clips and some drill guides I designed and printed also. The drill guides made clip installation  sailor-proof!

I found the metal “French Cleats” at McMastercarr.com. These were used to mount the mirror to the wall so that it can easily be lifted off if necessary but held very securely.
